Role Overview: You will join the Geo team, which is dedicated to creating accurate, comprehensive, and valuable maps for users worldwide through various products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. With over a billion people relying on Maps services every month, your work will play a crucial role in helping users explore the world and navigate their daily lives. Additionally, you will collaborate with developers to leverage Google Maps platforms to enhance their applications and websites. The team is committed to solving intricate computer science challenges, designing user-friendly product experiences, and advancing our understanding of the real world. Key Responsibilities: - Influence stakeholders from different departments to support user-centered solutions based on research findings. - Take ownership of project priorities in alignment with overarching product objectives and manage resource allocation within projects. - Generate innovative ideas to enhance products and services by leveraging insights and recommendations derived from research. - Lead teams in assessing the impact of products, services, and ecosystems to define and evaluate their effectiveness. - Drive discussions on goals and strategies by analyzing, consolidating, and synthesizing existing knowledge about user, product, service, and business requirements. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. - Minimum 4 years of experience in an applied research setting such as product or academic environments. - Proficiency in research methods including usability studies, contextual inquiries, 1:1 interviews, and unmoderated research studies. - Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or PhD in fields like Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related disciplines. - At least 2 years of experience conducting UX research, managing projects, and collaborating in a large, matrixed organization. - Understanding of various research methods" strengths and limitations, and the ability to determine their suitable application throughout the product development process. - Excellent cross-functional and collaboration skills with engineering disciplines, product management, design, and program management, along with a proven track record of influencing product direction.
