Description
Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using tools like straightedges, calipers, and rulers. Perform tack-welding or full welding using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment. Cut workpieces using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knives. Melt and extrude lead to form joints or reusable material. Install or repair equipment such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings. Observe and evaluate weld quality through hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimensional tolerance tests. Inspect grooves, angles, and gaps using micrometers, calipers, and precision instruments. Remove rough spots from workpieces using grinders, files, or scrapers. Weld components in various positions including flat, vertical, and overhead. Ignite torches and adjust settings to achieve desired flame or arc characteristics. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout and welding operations. Develop templates and work aids to align and hold parts during welding. Qualifications Knowledge of different types of welding (e.g., MIG, TIG, Arc, Gas). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
