Observe and evaluate weld quality through hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimensional tolerance tests. Inspect grooves, angles, and gaps using micrometers, calipers, and precision instruments. Remove rough spots from workpieces using grinders, files, or scrapers. Weld components in various positions including flat, vertical, and overhead. Ignite torches and adjust settings to achieve desired flame or arc characteristics. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout and welding operations. Develop templates and work aids to align and hold parts during welding. Qualifications Knowledge of different types of welding (e.g., MIG, TIG, Arc, Gas). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
