About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and highly skilled US Sports News Editor to lead and refine our coverage of American sports, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college sports, and other major leagues. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of US sports culture, strong editorial judgment, and the ability to manage breaking news while maintaining content accuracy, quality, and timeliness.Key ResponsibilitiesEditorial LeadershipPlan, assign, and edit news, features, and analysis pieces covering US sports.Oversee daily news coverage to ensure stories are timely, relevant, and engaging.Maintain editorial tone and style in line with brand guidelines.Content Quality & AccuracyEdit articles for grammar, clarity, and factual accuracy.Verify stats, quotes, and historical references before publication.Ensure compliance with copyright laws and ethical journalism standards.Team Management & CollaborationWork closely with reporters, photographers, and multimedia teams to deliver high-quality sports coverage.Provide constructive feedback to writers to improve their storytelling and reporting skills.Coordinate with social media teams to promote sports stories effectively.Breaking News & Live CoverageMonitor sports events, press releases, and social media for breaking news.Direct real-time coverage during live games, trades, or major sports announcements.Manage tight deadlines in high-pressure news situations.
