Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Optical Engineer to join our team. The Optical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of optical systems and components for a variety of applications. • Optical System Design: Design and develop optical systems for laparoscopes, including lens assemblies, illumination paths, and imaging components. • Simulation & Modeling: Utilize optical design software (Zemax) to model, analyze, and optimize optical performance. • Prototype Development: Collaborate with mechanical and electronics teams to develop prototypes and ensure seamless integration of optical subsystems. • Tolerance & Manufacturing Analysis: Perform tolerance analysis, stray light evaluation, and manufacturability studies for precision optical components. • Material Selection: Select appropriate optical materials, coatings, and adhesives compatible with sterilization methods (e.g., autoclave). • Testing & Validation: Define optical testing methods, analyze performance data, and ensure compliance with relevant ISO/IEC standards for medical optics. • Documentation: Prepare engineering drawings, design specifications, and validation reports to support regulatory submissions (FDA, CE). • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D and Regulatory teams to translate clinical needs into optical requirements. • Education: Masters or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, Applied Optics, or related field. • Experience : Minimum 2+ years of experience in optical design (preferably in medical devices or precision instrumentation). • Technical Skills: o Proficiency in Zemax or equivalent optical design software. o Strong understanding of geometrical and physical optics (lens design, illumination systems). o Knowledge of imaging sensors (CMOS/CCD) and light sources (LED, laser). o Familiarity with sterilization effects on optics (autoclavable design considerations). • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving ability, excellent communication, and teamwork skills. • Experience in endoscopic or laparoscopic optical systems. • Knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and medical device development standards. • Experience with miniaturized optical systems and biocompatible materials.
