Job Description

Bookkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
  • Process sales invoices, receipts, payments, and purchase orders.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Ensure timely posting of financial transactions and month-end adjustments.
  • Support payroll processing where required.

VAT Accounting:

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC guidelines and deadlines.
  • Ensure full compliance with

    Making Tax Digital (MTD)

    requirements.
  • Advise on VAT schemes (e.g., Flat Rate Scheme, Standard Accounting, Cash Accounting).
  • Reconcile VAT control accounts.
  • Stay updated on changes to VAT legislation and advise on implications for the business.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts.
  • Liaise with external accountants or auditors as needed.
  • Support the finance team with ad hoc reporting and financial analysis.
  • Contribute to process improvement within the finance function.
