Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead and manage toolmakers, machinists, and engineers in the tool room.
  • Plan and allocate work for mould manufacturing, development, and modifications.
  • Train and mentor staff in injection mould tooling techniques and best practices.

New Mould Development

  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of new moulds

    concept, design validation, manufacturing, assembly, trials, and final approval

    .
  • Review and approve mould design drawings for manufacturability, durability, and ease of maintenance.
  • Plan and conduct

    mould trials

    with production to validate performance and cycle times.
  • Ensure timely delivery of new moulds for product launches while meeting quality and cost targets.
  • Coordinate with external toolmakers/vendors for outsourced mould development.

Mould Maintenance & Operations

  • Develop and implement

    preventive and predictive maintenance schedules

    for all moulds.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns, conduct corrective maintenance, and minimize downtime.
  • Supervise precision machining (CNC, VMC, EDM, Wire Cut, grinding, turning, etc.) for mould components.
  • Maintain detailed mould history, modifications, and performance documentation.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure moulds meet product design specifications, dimensional accuracy, and cycle time requirements.
  • Implement quality inspection standards for new and existing moulds.
  • Collaborate with QA and Production teams to resolve tooling-related issues.

Production & Cost Efficiency

  • Optimize mould life and improve productivity through effective maintenance and upgrades.
  • Control tool room costs, including machining, materials, and spares.
  • Reduce lead times for mould manufacturing, modifications, and new development.
  • Manage inventory of tool steels, inserts, ejector pins, and consumables.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, or related discipline.
  • 812 years of experience in

    injection moulding tool room operations

    , with at least 35 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of injection mould design software (UG NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Hands-on expertise in CNC, VMC, EDM, Wire Cut, and conventional machining.
  • In-depth understanding of injection moulding processes, hot runner systems, cooling layouts, and ejector mechanisms.
  • Proven track record in

    new mould development

    and product launch support.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and vendor management skills.
