Tool Room Incharge

Role & responsibilities

1. Tool Maintenance & Management

• Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of press tools, bending tools, and dies.
  
• Handle maintenance and refurbishment of

  large and heavy-diameter tools

  .
• Plan and execute tool reconditioning and life enhancement activities.
  
• Maintain tool history cards and ensure traceability of tool performance.
  

2. Tool Room Operations

• Manage daily tool room operations including machining, fitting, and inspection.
  
• Supervise toolmakers, machinists, and supporting manpower.
  
• Ensure effective utilization of tool room machines (lathe, milling, surface grinder, EDM, etc.).
  
• Maintain 5S, safety, and housekeeping standards within the tool room.
  

3. New Tool Development & Trials

• Support new tool manufacturing, modifications, and validation.
  
• Coordinate with production and design teams for tool tryouts and dimensional approval.
  
• Participate in feasibility reviews and tool design improvements for manufacturability.
  

4. Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor tool accuracy and ensure compliance with quality standards and drawings.
  
• Implement corrective actions for tool-related rejections or line stoppages.
  
• Drive Kaizen, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce tool downtime and cost.
  

5. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain calibration and inspection records for tools and gauges.
  
• Prepare and monitor tool maintenance schedules, spares lists, and inventory.
  
• Ensure compliance with safety norms and ISO/IATF system requirements.
  

Key Skills & Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of

  press tool design, maintenance, and troubleshooting

  .
• Hands-on experience in

  bending, sizing, cutting, and welding tool

  maintenance.
• Ability to handle

  heavy/large tools and dies

  .
• Strong understanding of tool steels, heat treatment, and die spotting techniques.
  
• Proficiency in reading engineering drawings.
  
• Leadership, planning, and team management skills.
  
• Exposure to TPM/5S/Kaizen/ISO/IATF systems preferred.
