Tool Room Incharge & Master cam Programmer

Job Purpose:

To manage and oversee the daily operations of the CNC and VMC tool room, ensuring efficient utilization of machines, manpower, tools, and materials to achieve production targets with high quality and minimal downtime.

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production & Planning

• Plan and schedule daily machining activities for VMC & CNC machines as per production requirements.
• Ensure all tooling, programs, and materials are available for smooth machine operations.
• Monitor job progress and ensure timely completion of components and tooling.
• Coordinate with design and production departments for new tool trials and development jobs.

2. Machine & Process Management

• Supervise and control VMC, CNC, EDM, and conventional machines in the tool room.
• Ensure optimum utilization of machines with minimal idle time.
• Verify job setting, tool offsets, and machining parameters before production.
• Implement standard machining procedures and maintain accuracy and consistency.

3. Tool & Fixture Management

• Maintain inventory of cutting tools, inserts, jigs, and fixtures.
• Plan for tool regrinding, replacement, and procurement as required.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of precision tools and gauges.
• Coordinate with vendors for tool manufacturing and rework.

4. Quality Control

• Inspect machined parts and ensure dimensional accuracy as per drawing.
• Implement corrective actions for deviations or rejections.
• Maintain documentation for in-process and final inspection reports.
• Work closely with the Quality Department to ensure compliance with standards.

5. Team Supervision

• Lead and guide CNC & VMC operators, setters, and tool makers.
• Allocate jobs and monitor operator performance.
• Conduct training for new operators on machine operation, tool setting, and safety practices.
• Promote teamwork and maintain discipline in the tool room.

6. Maintenance & Safety

• Ensure periodic maintenance of machines and coordinate with maintenance team for repairs.
• Maintain 5S and safety standards in the tool room area.
• Identify and resolve machine or tooling issues promptly to minimize downtime.

7. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain tool life records, job history cards, and machine utilization reports.
• Prepare daily production and tool room performance reports.
• Maintain calibration and maintenance logs.

Skills & Competencies Required:

• Strong technical knowledge of

  CNC & VMC programming (Fanuc / Siemens / Mitsubishi controls)

• Understanding of

  CAD/CAM software (e.g., MasterCAM, NX, or ESPRIT)

  .
• Knowledge of

  tool design, jigs, fixtures, and gauges

  .
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
• Leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills..

Preferred candidate profile

Tool Room incharge & Master cam programer

• Diploma / BE in Mechanical / Production Engineering.

• Experience:

  510 years in CNC/VMC machining and tool room operations, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or incharge role.
