Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver well-structured English lessons (both language and literature) aligned with the CBSE syllabus and school policies.
  
• Develop annual schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching materials, worksheets, assignments, and projects tailored to student ability.
  
• Teach reading, writing, speaking, listening skills; develop vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, literature appreciation (poetry, drama, prose) and communication skills.
  
• Use differentiated instructional strategies to support varying student abilities: remedial support for slower learners, extension/challenge tasks for high-achievers.
  
• Conduct regular assessments: class tests, quizzes, unit tests, mid/term exams; mark and monitor student work; record and report progress to students, parents and school leadership.
  
• Create a positive classroom culture that encourages participation, creative expression, independent thinking, debate/discussion, and fosters student confidence in using English.
  
• Maintain a disciplined and engaging learning environment, manage classroom behaviour according to school code of conduct.
  
• Encourage reading beyond syllabus: maintain and promote the school library, reading clubs, literary events, debates, elocution, writing competitions.
  
• Use educational technology effectively (smart board, digital resources, e-learning tools) to enhance student engagement, as the school offers IT-enabled classrooms. presidencyschooleast.org+1
  
• Collaborate with other teachers and departments, participate in curriculum development, staff meetings, professional development programmes.
  
• Liaise with parents via parent-teacher meetings and reporting to keep them apprised of student progress, behaviour and homework compliance.
  
• Uphold and model the schools values, policies on child safety, health & safety, integrity, professionalism and continuous improvement.
  
• Contribute to co-curricular and extra-curricular activities: literary clubs, drama, public speaking, school magazine, mentoring students, field trips related to English/literature.
  
• Maintain records: student attendance, marks, homework, classwork, meeting logs, student portfolios, as per school requirement.
