A Gastroenterology Technician plays a crucial role in assisting gastroenterologists and healthcare professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with gastrointestinal disorders
They are responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment, assisting with procedures, and providing patient care in a clinical or hospital setting
Key Responsibilities:Patient Preparation:Greet and prepare patients for gastrointestinal procedures
Explain the procedure to patients and address their questions and concerns
Ensure patients are comfortable and provide emotional support
Equipment Maintenance:Set up and sterilize endoscopy and other specialized equipment before procedures
Maintain and troubleshoot equipment to ensure it functions correctly
Keep an inventory of supplies and request restocking as needed
Assistance During Procedures:Assist the gastroenterologist during endoscopic procedures, such as colonoscopies and gastroscopies
Pass instruments and supplies to the physician as required
