Description
As a Technical Design Specialist at Siemens Energy, you will play a crucial role in the tendering process for steam turbine services by providing technical expertise in mechanical design aspects. Your responsibilities will include: - Providing technical support for tendering by offering design-related inputs, feasibility checks, and technical risk evaluations for proposals. - Reviewing customer specifications to identify design implications and recommending appropriate design solutions for spare parts, assemblies, and modernization projects. - Validating reverse-engineered components for dimensional accuracy and fitment, ensuring alignment with OEM design principles and Siemens standards. - Assessing mechanical integration feasibility for complete turbine train configurations and providing guidance on assembly constraints and component compatibility. - Acting as a subject matter expert for Siemens steam turbine design, advising on design changes, upgrades, and lifecycle considerations for the entire fleet. - Collaborating with customers and internal teams to explain technical aspects and ensure technical compliance and competitiveness. Qualifications required for this role include: - Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. - Experience: 10-15 years in steam turbine mechanical design or engineering support with exposure to reverse engineering and aftermarket solutions. - Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of rotor, casing, blades, diaphragms, seals, bearings, couplings, reverse engineering principles, and manufacturing complexity assessment. - Tools Familiarity: Proficiency in Siemens NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD (interpretation), and PLM systems. - Compliance & Standards: Familiarity with ASME, API, DIN, and OEM-specific standards, as well as quality assurance and inspection protocols. - Behavioral Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams. Your key performance indicators (KPIs) will include the accuracy and completeness of technical inputs for proposals, reduction in design-related risks during execution, and contribution to the proposal win rate through robust technical support.
