The Technical Head shall act as a representative of General Contractor (L&T) and shall be responsible for providing overall technical leadership and coordination for successful delivery of the project.
The scope shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
Project Delivery & Leadership
- Ensure physical delivery of the project as per contractual commitments, maintaining highest standards of safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Drive adoption of global best practices in high-rise construction technology and project execution.
- Guide execution teams in civil, finishing, and MEP disciplines to achieve time-bound, safe, and quality completion.
- Design & Technical Management
- Review and interpret all technical documents including Employer's Requirements, tender drawings, GFC drawings, and specifications.
- Lead preparation, coordination, and submission of shop drawings, construction details, fabrication drawings, and coordination drawings.
- Coordinate technical submittals, approvals, and documentation.
- Arrange and submit all technical submittals (materials, samples, approvals, mock-ups).
- Identify discrepancies in specifications/drawings generate RFIs and ensure timely resolution.
- Develop innovative solutions and generate construction details as required to resolve site issues.
- Present technical progress reports and solutions to senior management.
- Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the primary technical representative of the General Contractor with Owners, Consultants (Structural, Architectural, MEP, Vertical Transport, HVAC, STP, OWC, etc.), PMC/PQS, and specialized trade contractors as well as Nominated Sub-contractor, Lower Teir Contractor etc.
- Coordinate internally with planning, procurement, execution heads, and support functions (safety, P&M, construction methodology).
- Conduct and lead weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors (finishing, MEP, specialized trades).
- Attend management review meetings with PMC/Owner's representatives and consultants.
BIM & Digital Integration
- Steering
BIM model development
(LOD 300 LOD 500) ensuring accurate coordination across disciplines. - Integrate BIM with the
Integrated Project Delivery Schedule
and highlight early warnings of delay/disruption to stakeholders.
Subcontractor & Package Management
- Assist Owner's Consultant in preparing bid documents for Nominated Subcontractor (NSC) packages (RFP, ITB, NIT, BOQs, specifications, T&Cs).
- Vet bid documents for completeness, suitability, and technical compliance.
- Evaluate NSC bids to identify technical inconsistencies, deviations, or non-compliance with RFP requirements.
- Guide General Contractor for procurement of direct specialized sub-work packages to ensure suitability and timely delivery.
Quality, Safety & Productivity
- Prepare and implement the Project Quality Plan and support implementation of the Project Safety Plan.
- Review and improve work method statements for enhanced labour productivity and equipment efficiency.
- Conduct periodic audits and enforce corrective measures where progress, safety, or quality falls behind benchmarks.
Reporting & Escalation
- Provide technical reports, status updates, and recommendations to senior management.
- Flag risks, delays, or disruptions with mitigation strategies.
- Execute any other related tasks assigned by management.
Team Development & Leadership
- Mentor and develop engineers and site teams.
- Build a culture of technical excellence, safety, and accountability.
- Promote adoption of digital tools (BIM, project monitoring software) for better control.
Key Skills & Competencies
- 15-20 years of experience in construction, with at least 10 years in leadership roles on high-rise projects (60+ floors).
- Deep expertise in high-rise construction technologies, high strength concrete, structural system, advanced formwork, as well as integration between MEP, Finishing and Various Trades of works.
- Aqauanited with knowledge of Mumbai's regulatory framework (BMC, MHADA, MOEF, fire approvals, etc.) to support the Owner / their consultant for obtain Fire NOC and Occupation Certificate for the Building Completion.
- Excellent stakeholder management and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong working knowledge of BIM, digital construction tools, and project management software.
- Leadership in driving safety, quality, and productivity at site.
