Job Description

Function/Dept Purpose Statement:

The Facilities Maintenance group provides maintenance support for facility systems equipment and manufacturing process equipment. This is accomplished through scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled corrective maintenance activities. The goal of the organization is to support the facility in the most cost-effective manner, maximize asset effectiveness, and operate safely to ensure no workplace injuries

Position Responsibilities:

Electrical Maintenance and Repairs:

  1. Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including lighting, wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, and panels.
  2. Diagnose and resolve electrical issues with equipment, appliances, and machinery within the facility.
  3. Install, test, and commission new electrical systems and components.
  4. Maintain and repair electrical controls, motors, and sensors for HVAC systems, pumps, and other facility equipment.
  5. Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to reduce the risk of breakdowns or hazards.
  6. Ensure electrical systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including the National Electric Code (NEC).
  7. Respond to emergency electrical issues, including power outages or equipment failures.

Facility Maintenance:

  1. Assist with general facility upkeep, including HVAC systems, and building repairs as needed.
  2. Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  3. Support energy efficiency initiatives by recommending and implementing upgrades to electrical systems.
  4. Monitor and maintain building security systems, fire alarms, and emergency lighting.

Safety and Compliance:

  1. Adhere to all safety protocols and electrical codes to minimize risks and hazards.
  2. Perform safety audits on electrical systems and equipment, identifying and addressing potential issues.
  3. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during electrical work.
  4. Maintain compliance with OSHA, GSS and other applicable safety regulations

Vendor Coordination:

  1. Collaborate with contractors and vendors for specialized electrical repairs or installations.

Recordkeeping and Reporting:

  1. Maintain detailed records of electrical inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  2. Prepare reports for management regarding electrical system performance, breakdowns, and upgrades.
  3. Track inventory of electrical tools, spare parts, and supplies.
  4. Maintain equipment history cards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-year Diploma in Electrical/ Electronics from a Government Polytechnic Institute with minimum first class.
  • 3-4 years overall experience working for maintenance of Utilities and Plant Equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to Drives-AC, DC, VFD, Switchgears, Flow Measurement Devices like MFC/MFM, Stepper Motors, Air handling Units
  • Must understand the safe working procedures and standards required when working around/with Energized Electrical Systems, High Pressure Systems, Vacuum Systems and Industrial Rotational Equipment (Pumps, Motors and Fan Systems). Must be able to demonstrate safety mindset and have led small teams in safe work practices.
  • Must be proficient in reading and working with; Block Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation (P&ID) Diagrams, Schematic Diagrams, Electrical Distribution Diagrams.
  • Effective team leadership / team building skills able to manage self and others, plan work, develop others
  • Effective communication skills able to communicate with team members at all levels (process equipment operators, peers, supervisors, etc.)
  • Able to manage multiple priorities – use good judgment in prioritizing own work and the work of his/her team.
