Tech Lead - Materials Engineer

As a Senior Materials Engineer at the cutting-edge technology leader Garrett, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions for next-generation materials focusing on electrification, sustainability, and turbocharger materials. **Roles And Responsibilities:** - Utilize your expertise in research and development of magnetic materials, physical and mechanical metallurgy, advanced characterization techniques, and simulation skills. - Identify gaps in magnetic materials and manufacturing process technology, proposing solutions for maturing new technologies with high-performance magnets. - Develop proposals and present new ideas related to soft and hard magnets. - Solve problems in the innovation, development, and implementation of new material technologies. - Coordinate activities with cross-functional teams, external partners, and the ecosystem to ensure timely project milestones. - Contribute high-quality IP with business and technology importance. - Participate in internal innovation and ideation events, identifying open innovation opportunities. - Utilize lab equipment for advanced material characterization and microstructural analysis. - Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project. - Document technical data in alignment with engineering policies and procedures. **Education:** - MTech/PhD in materials science and engineering. - MTech with 4+ years or PhD with relevant experience in research and development. **Preferred Skills:** - Strong knowledge of physical metallurgy, mechanical metallurgy, structure-property correlations, and advanced characterization techniques. - Exposure to advanced high-performance metals, magnetic materials, and silicon steels. - Self-motivated with a passion for bringing own ideas to applications. - Strong networking, oral and written communication skills. - Good interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to diverse backgrounds. - Proficiency in documenting, planning, and executing programs. - Established project management skills for handling multiple projects. **Why you should apply:** - Exposure to New Growth Vectors (NGVs). - Part of the core materials innovation team.
