Job Title: Tax Manager Company: Microland Location: Bengaluru, India Experience: 5+ years post-qualification experience (PQE) as a Chartered Accountant (CA) About Microland: Microland is a leading global digital transformation company, enabling enterprises to make their infrastructure and operations future-ready. As we continue our growth journey, we are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager to join our finance team in Bengaluru. Job Summary: The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of direct, indirect, and international taxation for Microland's operations, both in India and globally. This role requires a strong understanding of Indian tax laws (Income Tax, GST, TDS, etc.) and international tax principles, including transfer pricing and DTAAs. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, analytical, and detail-oriented professional with proven experience in tax compliance, planning, and advisory. Key Responsibilities: 1. Indian Direct Tax (Income Tax, TDS, etc.): • Ensure timely and accurate computation, payment, and filing of corporate income tax returns (ITR). • Manage Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) compliance, including calculations, payments, return filing, and reconciliation. • Prepare and finalize tax audit reports, and support statutory audits. • Respond to tax notices, manage assessments, and represent the company before tax authorities. • Conduct tax planning initiatives to optimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance. • Stay updated with changes in Indian direct tax laws and assess their impact on the company. 2. Indian Indirect Tax (GST, etc.): • Oversee Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance, including GSTR filing (GSTR1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C), reconciliation, and payment. • Ensure accurate input tax credit (ITC) utilization and compliance. • Handle GST audits, inquiries, and notices from tax authorities. • Provide advisory on GST implications for various business transactions and new initiatives. • Monitor changes in GST laws and proactively implement necessary adjustments. 3. International Tax & Transfer Pricing: • Manage international tax compliance, including aspects related to foreign remittances, FEMA regulations, and Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements (DTAAs). • Oversee transfer pricing documentation, analysis, and compliance (Master File, Local File, CbCR). • Assist in evaluating the tax implications of international business transactions, new market entries, and cross-border projects. • Provide guidance on international tax structuring and planning. • Collaborate with international legal and tax advisors as needed. 4. Tax Planning & Advisory: • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax exposure and optimize the company's tax position. • Provide expert advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on all tax-related matters, including business decisions, contracts, and new ventures. • Identify and analyze potential tax risks and opportunities, and propose mitigation strategies. 5. Tax Accounting & Reporting: • Responsible for tax provisioning and disclosure as per IND AS/IFRS. • Ensure accurate recording of tax-related entries in the financial books. • Liaise with finance and accounting teams to ensure seamless integration of tax processes. 6. Audit and Litigation Support: • Coordinate and manage tax audits by various authorities (Income Tax, GST, etc.). • Prepare detailed responses to audit queries and support arguments for tax positions. • Assist in managing tax litigation matters, including drafting appeals and working with external counsel. 7. Process Improvement & Automation: • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the tax function. • Work towards enhancing efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting and compliance. Qualifications & Skills: • Mandatory: Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification with 5+ years of postqualification experience in a corporate tax environment or a leading consulting firm. • Proven hands-on experience in managing Indian Direct Tax, Indirect Tax (GST), and International Tax (including Transfer Pricing). • Strong understanding of tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements in India. • Familiarity with international tax principles and DTAAs. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • High attention to detail and accuracy. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal teams, external consultants, and tax authorities. • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and tax management software is a plus. Preferred Attributes: • Experience in the IT/ITES industry. • Proactive approach to tax compliance and planning. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
