System Engineer

As an experienced Database Architect at Ikastar, you will play a crucial role in defining the technical vision and architecture to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency of our premium software services. Your responsibilities will include leading efforts in performance optimization, query optimization, indexing strategies, and efficient data partitioning for distributed workloads. Additionally, you will enhance PostgreSQL and Citus features to improve distributed data processing and design robust replication, failover, and backup strategies for high availability. You will be responsible for ensuring data integrity, encryption, and adherence to industry security standards, as well as enhancing database monitoring tools to improve observability. Collaboration with developers, DevOps, and product teams to align database technology with business needs will be a key aspect of your role. Staying updated with industry trends in distributed databases, cloud-native architectures, and storage engines, and contributing to research and innovation activities will also be expected. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of hands-on experience and strong proficiency in C and C++ for developing database engines, with working knowledge of Python and Perl being a plus. Experience in query planning, indexing, database performance tuning, replication, sharding, and high-availability architectures is essential. Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL performance monitoring tools, database security, access control, encryption, and strong problem-solving skills are required. The ability to mentor engineering teams and contribute to open-source database projects, knowledge of distributed consensus algorithms, parallel query execution, and exposure to AI/ML-driven database optimizations are preferred qualifications for this role.,
