System Backend Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance backend microservices using Go (Golang) for Arealis Zords financial intelligence layer.

• Build and maintain REST and gRPC APIs for internal services, banking adapters, and orchestration workflows.

• Implement idempotent, fault-tolerant transaction logic to ensure reliability across distributed payment networks.

• Integrate with Kafka for event streaming, PostgreSQL for persistent storage, and Redis for caching and state management.

• Implement secure communication between services using mTLS, OAuth2.0, and JWT-based authentication.

• Work closely with the Data Engineering team to stream real-time financial data and support Autonomic Reconciliation (ARL) workflows.

• Participate in architecture decisions for workflow orchestration (Temporal/Conductor), ensuring deterministic and auditable operations.

• Build scalable APIs with proper error handling, retries, and circuit breakers, following best practices for latency and availability.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Frontend, ML) to design, test, and deploy production-grade systems.

• Ensure observability with metrics, structured logging, and distributed tracing using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.

• Maintain high-quality standards through unit testing, integration testing, and CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred candidate profile

• 0-3 years of experience (entry-to-mid-level engineers may apply).

• Prior experience in backend development or financial technology platforms is a plus.

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong proficiency in Golang (Go) and understanding of concurrency, channels, and context handling.

• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and gRPC services.

• Hands-on knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka.

• Understanding of distributed systems, idempotency, and data consistency.

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and Git-based CI/CD pipelines.

• Good understanding of authentication & authorization (OAuth2, JWT).

• Experience working in Linux-based environments.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Exposure to Rust or Python for sidecar and ML integrations.

• Familiarity with workflow engines (Temporal, Conductor).

• Understanding of API Gateways (Kong, NGINX).

• Experience with microservices deployment using Kubernetes or ArgoCD.
