As a Contractor - Sybase DBA at Fidelity International, you will be a part of the Data Platform Group within Enterprise Technology Services. Your primary responsibility will be to work on database project delivery and production support activities. Your role will involve supporting database infrastructure, solving production and non-production issues, and working on changes, incidents, and problems. You will be a key member of the global database support team, ensuring maximum uptime of the production database infrastructure. This role requires 24x7 support, including weekends, and active participation in Business As Usual (BAU) support activities. You will be responsible for providing rapid response to high severity incidents, supporting project work, proactively detecting and resolving issues, monitoring services, and restoring services after disruptions. Key Responsibilities: - Providing 24x7 support for Fidelity's Production database estate, including all environments. - Responding rapidly to high severity incidents. - Supporting and delivering assigned project work. - Proactively detecting and resolving issues, as well as monitoring services. - Restoring services after disruptions. - Providing technical support on a shift, on-call, and rotational basis. - Resolving production support issues and escalating when necessary. Experience and Qualifications Required: - Excellent Sybase database administration skills in a production support role. - Experience in database installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root cause analysis. - Above 5 years of progressive working knowledge of database technologies. - Proficiency in Sybase 16.0, Sybase Replication Server, troubleshooting, performance tuning, database migration and upgrade, backup and recovery, and Control-M. Personal Skills: - A good team player with experience working under tight deadlines. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Ability to adapt to changing business needs and learn new skills quickly. - Good written and verbal communication skills. - Customer-focused with a strong service ethic. - Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
