About the Role
The Senior Vice President of Technology / Head of Engineering will be a critical leader in the Engineering organization, responsible for defining the technical vision, architecture, and execution strategy for Delhivery's core platform cutting across all vertical domains (e.g., Core Supply Chain Platforms, Fulfillment and Warehousing Automation, or Last-Mile/Delivery Technology).
This role requires a unique blend of technical depth, large-scale people leadership, and acute business acumen to manage a complex, mission-critical, and geographically dispersed technology stack that directly impacts the company's P&L and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic & Technical Leadership
Vision and Roadmap:
Define and own the 3-5 year technical roadmap and strategy for the assigned domain, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives for growth, cost efficiency, and customer experience.Architecture Ownership:
Oversee the architectural design of highly scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant systems handling millions of daily real-time events, with a focus on minimizing latency and maximizing operational uptime (99.99%+).Innovation & Modernization:
Drive continuous modernization of the technology stack, evaluating and implementing cutting-edge solutions in areas like ML-powered optimization, distributed systems, cloud computing (AWS/GCP), and data platforms.IP Creation:
Foster a culture of technical excellence and intellectual property development, contributing to Delhivery's strategic advantage in the logistics space.
B. Execution & Operations
Delivery Excellence:
Ensure predictable, high-quality, and timely delivery of complex engineering projects, establishing rigorous processes for code quality, testing, deployment, and monitoring.Operational Efficiency:
Partner closely with Operations teams to translate physical-world logistics constraints and opportunities into robust technological solutions, optimizing critical metrics like cost-per-shipment, transit time, and error rates.Budget & Resource Management:
Manage overall technology budget, optimizing investments in talent, infrastructure, and tools to yield maximum return.
C. People & Culture Leadership
Team Scaling & Mentorship:
Lead, scale, and mentor a large organization (100+ engineers, data scientists, and managers), fostering a high-performance, collaborative, and innovation-driven environment.Cross-functional Collaboration:
Serve as the primary technology liaison, collaborating effectively with business unit heads, product management, finance, and operations to prioritize initiatives and manage dependencies.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Technical Depth:
Must possess deep, hands-on understanding of building and operating large-scale internet-scale applications, distributed systems, microservices architecture, and real-time data processing pipelines.Scale Management:
Proven experience in managing technology for a business with rapid growth and massive operational scale, preferably in e-commerce / logistics domains.Domain Expertise:
Familiarity with complex optimization algorithms, graph theory, supply chain modeling, or geographical information systems (GIS) is highly desirable.
