Role & responsibilities:

Supply Chain Engineer

Key Responsibilities

1. Store and Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records of all incoming and outgoing materials, including raw materials (e.g., sand, scrap metal), consumables, spare parts, and tools.
  • Conduct regular physical stock audits and reconcile physical counts with the inventory management system.
  • Coordinate the receiving and dispatching of materials, ensuring all goods received match purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Manage the proper storage, labeling, and organization of all materials within the store according to safety and operational standards.
  • Implement and enforce inventory control practices such as FIFO (first-in, first-out) or LIFO (last-in, first-out).
  • Collaborate with the production and quality control teams to ensure material availability and quality compliance.

2. Purchasing and Procurement

  • Assist in preparing and processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders (POs) for raw materials, equipment, and other foundry necessities.
  • Research and identify new and reliable vendors and suppliers for industrial components and consumables.
  • Communicate and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure the best pricing, delivery terms, and payment schedules.
  • Track purchase orders to ensure the timely delivery of all procured items.

3. Coordination and Reporting

  • Liaise with various internal departments, including production, logistics, and finance, to coordinate material requirements and track budget adherence.
  • Prepare regular reports for management on procurement efficiency, inventory levels, and stock movements.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation related to procurement and inventory for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Utilize foundry-specific software or an ERP system for inventory and procurement management.

Qualifications and Skills Experience:

Previous experience in a store/inventory management or procurement role is required, with minimum 5 years of experience in a Heavy fabrication or foundry environment preferred.

Education:

BE/ B. Tech. or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel, for data management and reporting.
  • Familiarity with foundry raw materials and processes is highly beneficial.

Competencies:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills for handling discrepancies and resolving issues.
