Position Overview:

The Inbound Quality Engineer will be responsible for conducting inspections and quality checks of incoming raw materials, electronic components, mechanical parts, and sub-assemblies to ensure compliance with defined specifications, drawings, and industry standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product quality and reliability for power electronics products such as inverters, converters, and other power conditioning equipment. He / she will also be responsible for highlighting if wrong parts have been received

Key Responsibilities:

Perform incoming inspections and testing of electronic components - diodes, IGBTs, MOSFET, capacitors etc. (part numbers as well as the parameter testing), mechanical parts, PCBs, cables, housings, fasteners, and other supplied items as per approved inspection plans and quality standards.

Review incoming material documentation such as test reports, certificates of compliance (CoC), and material data sheets.

Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, multimeters, oscilloscopes) to verify dimensions and functional parameters.

Record inspection results accurately in incoming inspection reports and maintain inspection records.

Identify non-conforming materials and initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).

Coordinate with suppliers and the procurement team for resolution of non-conformities, replacement, or rework.

Support the implementation of incoming material quality control procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.

Participate in supplier audits and incoming material evaluation projects.

Assist in the calibration and upkeep of inspection tools and equipment.

Ensure safe handling and storage of sensitive electronic components to prevent ESD damage.

Key Requirements:

Diploma or Bachelors degree in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical Engineering or related field.

25 years of experience in inbound / incoming quality inspection in power electronics, electronics manufacturing, or similar industries.

Knowledge of quality inspection methods, sampling plans, and acceptance criteria.

Knowledge and understanding of testing and usage of diode, mosfets, IGBTs etc. is a huge advantage

Familiarity with IPC standards for PCB inspection is an advantage.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs.

Proficiency in using measuring instruments and test equipment relevant to electronics.

Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems especially for sampling protocols and rejection criterion

Good communication and documentation skills.

Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities

Ownership and drive to get things done

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

In-process defect rate.

First Pass Yield (FPY) at final inspection.

On-time delivery compliance (quality holds)

Customer returns / field failure rate (DOA)

Effectiveness and closure of Non Conformance Reports and CAPAs.
