Key Responsibilities 1. Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential hazards in the workplace through thorough risk assessments. Inspect work areas, equipment, and processes to pinpoint risks that could endanger employees. 2. Recommend Safety Policies and Procedures: Identify and recommend safety policies based on project site needs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. 3. Training and Education: Facilitate training sessions to educate employees about safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Help employees to prioritize safety in their daily tasks. 4. Enforce Safe Work Practices : Ensure that safe work procedures are always implemented and adhered to. Monitor compliance and correct any deviations from established safety protocols. 5. Conduct Regular Inspections : Safety supervisors perform regular inspections and audits to assess workplace conditions and ensure that safety standards are met. They identify areas that require improvement and take corrective actions as necessary. 6. Investigate Incidents: In the event of accidents or safety incidents, supervisors conduct thorough investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 7. Emergency Preparedness: They develop and implement emergency response plans to address potential crises, ensuring that procedures for evacuations, first aid, and communication are in place. 8. Promote a Safety Culture: By fostering a culture of safety awareness, encourage employees to report unsafe conditions without fear of reprisal, thereby enhancing overall workplace safety. Coordinate safety meetings, drills, and other safety awareness activities. 9. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain safety files and records and prepare reports for senior management. 10. PPE inventory : Order and maintain the inventory of personal protective equipment and safety supplies. Qualifications and Skills Educational Background : Degree or Diploma with Certification in OSHA, environmental science, or a related field. Experience : 5+ years experience in health and safety inspection with construction industry. Knowledge of Regulations : A strong understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices is essential. Communication Skills : Excellent communication skills are needed to effectively train employees and report on safety performance.
