Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview: As a Staff Software Engineer at CommBank, you will be a key contributor to the Institutional Banking Data Platform (IDP), a state-of-the-art cloud platform designed to streamline data workflows for various banking functions. Your role will involve ensuring the platform's stability, performing maintenance and support activities, and driving innovative process improvements to enhance business value. You will play a pivotal role in a cross-functional squad responsible for developing and rolling out transformative digital experiences through CBAs CommBiz 2.0. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the front-end platform development, implementing scalable solutions using React, Next.js, and ensuring smooth integration with Backend For Frontend APIs. - Focus on optimizing platform performance and scalability, continuously refining the architecture to support a growing user base and complex features. - Implement security best practices to ensure robust protection against vulnerabilities and maintain compliance with industry standards. - Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions for continuous integration and deployment, enabling fast feature delivery. - Review code submitted by other engineers, provide feedback, and encourage continuous learning and improvement. - Collaborate on architecture decisions with a team of engineers, drive cross-functional collaboration, and deliver impactful solutions aligned with business objectives. - Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, focusing on quality, scalability, and performance. Qualification Required: - Minimum 12+ years of experience in software engineering. - Proficiency in frontend technologies like Next.js and backend technologies like Java and Spring Boot. - Expertise in Microservices, Restful API design pattern, DevOps, and CI/CD practices. - AWS Cloud certification is a must, along with experience in AWS services like EC2, SNS, S3, and Lambda. - Desired knowledge in Redux, Kafka, AI & Machine learning, and the banking domain. - Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Computer Science or Information Technology.
