Staff Product Manager

Role Overview: You will be joining Kong as a Staff Product Manager for their observability offerings, where you will play a crucial role in enhancing and expanding Kong's existing observability and tracing solutions. Your work will directly impact Kong's growth and success, as observability is a key factor in why customers choose Kong and Konnect. You will collaborate with a talented engineering team and have full ownership of the product, engaging with various stakeholders to deliver value in a fast-growing and innovative environment. Key Responsibilities: - Define and Drive Product Vision: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish a clear vision for Kong's observability & debuggability experiences for connectivity runtimes, ensuring alignment with customer needs and long-term plans. - Lead Execution: Partner with engineering and design leaders to deliver capabilities that bring customer value and promote Kong Event Gateway as a major feature. - Customer-Focused Planning: Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and translate it into target use cases, milestone plans, and timelines for the product roadmap. - Ensure Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with different teams to align on use case execution, milestone delivery, and launch plans, fostering collaboration and clarity in planning and execution. - Develop Roadmaps and Plans: Create and maintain an external-facing roadmap that communicates the product direction clearly, collaborating with Product Marketing Management on launch plans. - Champion Communication and Transparency: Act as the central point of communication, keeping stakeholders informed on progress, milestones, and expectations, building strong relationships with field teams for effective communication. Qualifications Required: - 6+ years of experience in product management, focusing on developer infrastructure products and technical customers. - Deep understanding of customer needs, onboarding, and product adoption. - Knowledge of tools and patterns in Observability and data ecosystem such as Prometheus, Grafana, Zipkin/OpenTracing, OpenTelemetry, Druid, ClickHouse, etc. - Understanding of the impact of sampling and cardinality on metrics management performance and cost. - Effective stakeholder engagement, identifying core pain points, and articulating a clear product vision.
