Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment and Monitoring:

RNs assess patients' physical, emotional, and social needs, monitor their condition, and document changes in their status

Medication Administration:

They administer medications according to physician's orders and monitor for any adverse reactions

Treatment and Procedures:

RNs assist with various medical procedures, perform diagnostic tests, and provide wound care

Patient Education:

They educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment plans, medications, and self-care strategies

Care Plan Implementation and Evaluation:

RNs develop and implement individualized care plans, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals

Documentation:

They maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting all assessments, interventions, and patient responses

Collaboration and Communication:

RNs communicate effectively with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care

Supervision and Delegation:

In some cases, RNs may supervise licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and other nursing staff

Advocacy:

RNs advocate for patients' rights and ensure they receive appropriate care and support

Emergency Response:

RNs are prepared to respond to emergencies and provide immediate medical care.
