Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care & Assessment

Perform pre-dialysis assessment including vital signs, weight, medical history, and general condition.
Prepare patients physically and emotionally for dialysis procedures.
Monitor patients throughout the dialysis session for any complications or changes in condition.
Provide post-dialysis assessment and care, ensuring patient stability.

2. Dialysis Procedure Management

Prepare, calibrate, and operate hemodialysis machines.
Ensure proper cannulation of AV fistula/AV graft and care of dialysis catheters.
Administer medications during dialysis as per doctors orders.
Document all procedures accurately in patient records.

3. Emergency Management

Identify and respond promptly to dialysis-related emergencies such as hypotension, cramps, allergic reactions, etc.
Assist in CPR or other life-saving interventions when needed.
Report critical incidents to the unit incharge immediately.

5. Coordination & Communication

Collaborate with nephrologists, technicians, and other nursing staff.
Explain procedures and educate patients and their families regarding dialysis care, diet, and follow-ups.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

6. Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate treatment records, vitals charting, and medication administration details.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality indicators, and audit requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

GNM / B.Sc Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc Nursing.
Valid Nursing Council Registration.
Experience:
0–3 years (Dialysis experience preferred; training can be provided for freshers).
Basic knowledge of dialysis procedures, infection control, and patient care.
