Sr. Staff Engineer - Trading

Role Overview: As a Senior Staff Engineer at Addepar, you will be responsible for building a scalable, tax-efficient trading & rebalancing platform for wealth management firms. You will play a key technical leadership role in guiding the architectural design and technical direction for the Trading suite of products, including Rebalancing, Order Management System (OMS), and Investment Book of Record (IBOR). Your expertise in software design patterns and distributed systems will be crucial in driving complex, long-term technical designs from concept to delivery, ensuring scalable, resilient, and secure solutions for clients. You will collaborate closely with product and design teams to deliver exceptional products while mentoring and empowering other engineers. Key Responsibilities: - Partner with senior engineering peers to guide the architectural design and technical direction for the Trading suite of products - Design, develop, and implement robust and scalable solutions on cloud platforms, with a focus on AWS - Execute complex, long-term technical projects from planning to delivery - Mentor, coach, and empower other engineers to contribute to an inclusive and high-performing team culture - Collaborate with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to deliver long-term value for users - Research and drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices to foster innovation Qualifications Required: - Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering - Experience with Java and at least one Java application framework (e.g., Spring, Spring Boot, Quarkus) - Proficiency in SQL databases and writing efficient SQL queries - Experience working with event-driven frameworks like Kafka - Extensive experience in software development, including building backend services - Deep knowledge of software design patterns, API design, and the software development lifecycle - Expertise in cloud platforms, preferably AWS - Track record of mentoring other engineers and collaborating effectively within a senior team - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Experience in the financial industry or wealth management Additional Company Details: Addepar is a global technology and data company that empowers investment professionals with informed guidance for clients.
