Role Overview: You will be part of a team building a scalable, tax-efficient trading & rebalancing platform for wealth management firms of all sizes. The platform will focus on sophisticated rebalancing strategies across equities, mutual funds, and fixed-income products, sending trades to be completed in the market. As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will be a key technical leader responsible for guiding the technical direction and architecture for the Trading platform. Your role will involve driving complex, long-term technical designs from concept to delivery, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security. You will leverage your expertise in software design patterns and distributed systems to solve challenging problems and pioneer the adoption of new technologies. Collaboration with product and design teams will be essential to deliver exceptional products for clients. Key Responsibilities: - Partner with senior engineering peers to guide the architectural design and technical direction for the Trading suite of products - Design, develop, and implement robust and scalable solutions on cloud platforms, with a focus on AWS - Lead complex, long-term technical projects from planning and scoping through to delivery - Mentor, coach, and empower other engineers to contribute to an inclusive and high-performing team culture - Collaborate with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to ensure the delivery of long-term value for users - Drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices to foster innovation - Contribute to code reviews and technical designs, amplifying your technical abilities Qualifications Required: - Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering - Good experience working with Java and at least one Java application framework such as Spring, Spring Boot, or Quarkus - Experience with SQL databases and writing efficient SQL queries - Experience working with event-driven frameworks like Kafka - Extensive experience in software development, including building backend services in a professional environment - Deep knowledge of software design patterns, API design, and the software development lifecycle - Ability to influence technical direction and contribute significantly to the architecture of complex, distributed systems - Expertise in cloud platforms, particularly AWS - Track record of mentoring other engineers and collaborating effectively within a team - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Experience in the financial industry or wealth management is a plus Company Details: Addepar is a global technology and data company that assists investment professionals in providing informed guidance to clients.
