Sr. Controls Application Engineer

As a Senior Controls Application Engineer, you will play a crucial role in leading the pre-engineering, design, and estimation of automation solutions for warehouse and intralogistics environments. Your expertise in PLC/HMI programming, material handling equipment, and warehouse control systems will be essential in ensuring the successful integration of automation solutions with higher-level systems. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead the pre-engineering, design, and estimation of automation solutions for automated warehouse systems, including conveyors, AS/RS, sorters, and robotics. - Program PLCs and HMIs using Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell Studio 5000 for custom material handling systems. - Design electrical schematics and panel layouts utilizing AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN. - Coordinate field I/O, motor controls, VFDs, and safety circuits in adherence to global standards such as UL508A and IEC. - Collaborate with mechanical application and software teams to ensure alignment with customer requirements. - Manage complete project implementation and execution processes. - Develop and maintain technical documentation, including Functional Design Specifications and Network Architectures. - Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and support project managers throughout proposal and execution phases. - Build and nurture relationships with vendors, as well as identify and develop new vendor partnerships. **Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with 4-6 years of practical business experience. - Strong aptitude in electrical/controls design with a basic understanding of mechanical principles. - Excellent problem-solving skills in hardware and controls. - Demonstrated leadership abilities. - Passion for the Material Handling and Automation business environment.
