Sr Backend Developer

As a Backend Developer at our company, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, building, and maintaining high-performance backend systems in modern Java. These systems need to be scalable and capable of handling millions of concurrent users in our multitenant SaaS environment. You will play a key role in API design and implementation, developing clean and well-documented RESTful APIs, as well as high-efficiency gRPC services to expose backend functionality. Your expertise in distributed systems will be crucial as you architect and build microservices and event-driven systems using frameworks like Spring Boot and Quarkus. You will work with both SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (Cassandra, Redis) databases to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval. Additionally, you will deploy and manage services on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) using Kubernetes, Docker, and serverless technologies as part of our cloud-native development approach. Identifying bottlenecks, optimizing queries, and implementing caching strategies for low-latency responses will be part of your responsibilities for performance optimization. You will also be involved in implementing security and compliance measures, including authentication/authorization, encryption, and data protection best practices. Collaboration with frontend, DevOps, and product teams is essential to define API contracts, troubleshoot issues, and deliver end-to-end features. Furthermore, you will set up logging, metrics, and alerts to ensure system health and rapid incident response and drive code reviews while advocating for engineering best practices. Your qualifications should include 8+ years of development experience in Java, expertise in RESTful API design, gRPC implementation, and hands-on experience with microservices, message brokers, and API gateways. Strong database skills, familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization, knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC tools are also required. Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for writing clean, maintainable code will be key to success in this role. This is a full-time position located in-person.
