Job Description

As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining databases to ensure optimal performance and data security. Your key responsibilities will include: - Choosing the right hardware and software for the database based on factors such as database size, number of users, and performance requirements. - Configuring the database according to the company's needs, including creating user accounts, granting permissions, and setting up database parameters. - Performing regular maintenance tasks such as patching the operating system and database software, applying security updates, and backing up the database. - Monitoring database performance and health, troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise. - Developing and implementing backup and recovery plans that meet the company's data recovery requirements. - Setting up database monitoring tools to track performance metrics and analyzing performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement. - Investigating and resolving performance issues by implementing tuning solutions such as query optimization and index creation. - Collaborating with developers to address database design or code issues. - Implementing database security standards and procedures, including password management, data encryption, and access control. - Creating and maintaining database indexes to enhance query performance. Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelors degree in computer science, Software Development, or related field. - 2-6 years of experience as a DBA in databases such as Oracle, MS-SQL, MySQL, Postgres. - Database Administration Certification in at least one of the mentioned databases. - Working knowledge of AWS DB technologies like RDS is an added advantage. - Familiarity with Cloud computing and virtualized environments is a plus.
