Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Assess Compatibility:

Evaluate SQL Server 2012 databases, SSIS packages, SSRS reports, and SSAS cubes for compatibility with SQL Server 2022.
Identify deprecated features, breaking changes, and potential rework requirements using tools like Microsoft Data Migration Assistant (DMA), SSIS Package Upgrade Wizard, etc.

Plan & Pilot:

Validate functionality and performance of migrated assets in SQL Server 2022 test environments.
Conduct proof-of-concept and dry runs for each component (DBs, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS).
Document test results and compatibility issues with recommended resolutions.

Recommend Migration Strategies:

Work with Application/Platform Owners to define realistic timelines, fallback plans, and cutover strategies.
Propose upgrade vs. rebuild approaches where appropriate.
Assist in identifying tooling and automation opportunities including scripting, etc.

Collaborate & Manage:

Partner with internal application owners, Business Relationship Managers, and SQL DBAs.
Maintain clear communication and documentation throughout.
Support phased migration activities and track progress and issues.
