Software Engineering

As a member of the SRE Alerting team at Goldman Sachs, your impact will be significant. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Fabric and PagerDuty, with Fabric being the firm's event processing and alerting system. Operating within SRE Platforms, your role will involve designing, developing, and managing distributed systems that provide observability for Goldman's critical applications and platform services across on-premises data centers and various public cloud environments. The team's focus is on creating highly scalable tools to meet the global engineering teams" needs in terms of alerting, metrics and monitoring, log collection and analysis, as well as tracing. - Collaborate with customers, product owners, and SREs to design and develop a large-scale distributed system focused on alert generation and routing - Manage a production environment spanning cloud and on-premises data centers - Define observability features and oversee their implementation Basic Qualifications: - 8+ years of relevant work experience - Proficiency in one or more of the following: Java, Go, JavaScript, Spring framework - Strong programming skills encompassing development, debugging, testing, and code optimization - Experience with algorithms, data structures, and software design - Familiarity with distributed systems design, maintenance, and troubleshooting - Comfortable with technical ownership, managing multiple stakeholders, and collaborating within a global team Preferred Experience: - Familiarity with distributed databases such as MongoDB and/or Elasticsearch - Experience with open-source messaging systems like RabbitMQ and/or Kafka - Systems experience in UNIX/Linux and networking, particularly in scaling for performance and debugging complex distributed systems - Knowledge of cloud-native solutions in AWS or GCP Goldman Sachs is committed to utilizing its resources to aid clients, shareholders, and the communities it serves.
