Software Engineer, Test

As a highly skilled Software Engineer in Test at Ethos, your role is crucial to ensuring seamless functionality of web applications across different browsers and devices. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining frontend and API automation frameworks using Playwright or Selenium. Additionally, you will derive detailed test cases from Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), focusing on UI workflows and client-side logic. Your collaboration with product and engineering teams will be essential in upholding quality standards throughout the development and release process. **Roles and Responsibilities:** - Design, develop, and maintain frontend and API automation frameworks using Playwright or Selenium. - Derive detailed test cases from PRDs and ERDs, emphasizing UI workflows and client-side logic. - Write and execute advanced SQL queries to support test validation and data setup. - Work closely with developers, QA analysts, and system engineers to define test strategies and ensure quality goals alignment. - Own and maintain automation frameworks, tools, and scripts to support continuous integration and delivery. - Design and implement API tests using Postman, Rest Assured, Playwright API, or Jest. - Write and maintain test suites for RESTful APIs and validate service integrations. - Identify and proactively mitigate risks and issues related to frontend testing, including rendering issues and browser-specific bugs. - Continuously improve test case quality and automation coverage for functional, regression, sanity, and end-to-end UI testing. **Skills and Qualifications:** - Strong hands-on experience with Playwright (UI & API), Selenium, Postman, Rest Assured, or Jest - Proficient in JavaScript or Node.js environment. - Hands-on experience with cross-browser test strategies and debugging UI issues across multiple environments. - Proficiency in writing advanced SQL queries for backend data verification. - Ability to convert PRDs and ERDs into actionable, automated test cases. - Familiarity with source control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and test reporting frameworks. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. - Self-motivated with the ability to work in fast-paced, agile teams. - Knowledge of performance testing is a plus.
