Role Overview: As a Software Development Engineer 3 at Tesco, you will be in a senior Individual Contributor engineering role where your proficiency with foundational computer science and software engineering concepts is a given. You will have significant technical depth and breadth, playing an active role in technical leadership with proven impact across teams and the wider directorate. Your main responsibility will be taking ownership and accountability of the development of products in your domain. Additionally, you will participate in activities that build capability across the organization, including coaching and mentoring existing colleagues and interviewing/hiring new colleagues. Progression at this level will vary significantly, likely including more lateral opportunities than vertical promotions. This level of core technical knowledge is essential before considering a move to the management track.
