Software Designer

You'll contribute to the development of complex embedded solutions, ensuring quality, safety, and performance standards are met. Day-to-day, youll work closely with teams across the business (such as the System, Project, Product, Quality, and Safety teams), mentor and guide team members, and collaborate with global colleagues to resolve challenges and deliver impactful solutions.

Youll specifically take care of software design, coding, and testing, but also contribute to standardization efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Developing software modules, including detailed design, coding, and testing
• Setting up and maintaining the software development toolchain
• Supporting software integration with hardware and other software components
• Ensuring configuration management of software work products

• Applying processes and standards while driving continuous improvement
• Maintaining strong collaboration with cross-functional teams such as SW Architects, HW Designers, RAMS, and V&V departments

• Bachelors or Postgraduate degree in Engineering IT, CS, ECE, EEE, or equivalent
• 8+ years of experience in software development, verification, and validation of complex embedded systems
• Good knowledge of UML-based software design and architecture concepts
• Experience in technical management and leading small teams
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle and quality processes
• Hands-on experience with tools like MATLAB/Simulink, Control Build, or Artisan
• Experience with IEC61131-3 software development
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or C#
• Familiarity with configuration tools like Git, ClearQuest, or DOORS
• Knowledge of standards such as CENELEC SIL4 or DO178B
• Experience with communication protocols like TCP/IP or MODBUS
• Domain knowledge in railway signalling, avionics, or similar engineering domains
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• A flair for learning technologies specific to the railway domain
