Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and dedicated Social Science teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a strong background in social science subjects, including History, Geography, Civics, and Economics. As a Social Science teacher, you will inspire students to develop critical thinking skills, foster a deep understanding of societal structures, and help them connect historical events with contemporary issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lesson Planning and Instruction:
• Design, prepare, and deliver engaging and interactive lessons in social science subjects (History, Geography, Civics, and/or Economics) that meet curriculum guidelines.
• Develop a variety of teaching materials, including lectures, multimedia presentations, case studies, and hands-on activities.
• Use diverse instructional strategies to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
• Ensure a balanced approach to teaching theory and practical applications.
• Assessment and Evaluation:
• Assess students’ academic progress through assignments, quizzes, projects, tests, and presentations.
• Provide constructive feedback to students to foster growth and improvement.
• Monitor and document student performance and academic development.
• Classroom Management:
• Create a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
• Implement effective classroom management techniques to maintain order and encourage active student participation.
• Establish clear expectations for student behavior and uphold school discipline policies.
• Collaboration and Professional Development:
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary lessons and participate in faculty meetings.
• Stay current with developments in social science education and implement best practices in teaching.
• Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and conferences to enhance personal and professional growth.
• Student Engagement and Support:
• Foster an environment that promotes critical thinking, curiosity, and intellectual exploration.
• Encourage student participation in discussions and group activities.
• Provide additional support to students as needed through one-on-one tutoring or small group sessions.
• Curriculum Development:
• Contribute to the development and review of the social science curriculum to ensure alignment with state standards and educational goals.
• Suggest updates to course content or teaching methods based on student needs and educational trends.
• Extracurricular Activities:
• Organize and supervise extracurricular activities related to social sciences, such as field trips, debate clubs, or history fairs.
• Encourage students to participate in community service projects or events that connect with social science learning.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, History, Geography, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or teaching certification is preferred.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience at the high school level (preferred).
• Experience in using educational technology and digital resources in the classroom is a plus.
• Skills and Attributes:
• Strong knowledge of social science subjects and current events.
