Role Summary

Surface Mount Technology (SMT)

Key Responsibilities

• SMT Process Management & Optimization:

• Monitor and control all SMT processes, including

  solder paste printing

  , component placement (Pick & Place), and

  reflow soldering

  , to meet quality and throughput goals.
• Perform regular process audits and implement

  process improvements

  to minimize defects (e.g., bridging, tombstoning, insufficient solder).
• Maintain and update SMT profiles and recipes for new and existing PCB designs.

• Machine Operation & Maintenance:

• Hands-on operation

  and setup of SMT equipment, including Screen Printers, Pick & Place Machines (e.g., Fuji, Mycronic, Siemens), and Reflow Ovens.
• Execute first-level maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of SMT line machinery to ensure minimal downtime.
• Manage and control SMT materials, including solder paste, flux, and component reels.

• Rework and Assembly:

• Perform and supervise

  manual rework

  procedures on complex SMT and PTH (Plated Through Hole) components using hot air guns, soldering irons, and BGA (Ball Grid Array) rework stations.
• Assist and oversee

  final assembly

  procedures, ensuring adherence to engineering drawings and quality standards.

• Quality & Documentation:

• Utilize inspection tools such as AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) and X-ray systems to analyze defects and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain clear

  Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  and work instructions for the SMT line.

Required Qualifications

• Experience:

  Minimum

  2 to 4 years

  of direct experience in an

  SMT Engineer

  or similar role within a manufacturing environment.

• Education:

  Bachelor of Technology (

  B.Tech

  ) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Technical Skills:

• Proven

  hands-on experience

  with SMT machine setup, operation, and maintenance.
• Demonstrated proficiency in PCB

  rework and assembly

  techniques (both SMT and PTH).
• Solid understanding of common SMT defects, their root causes, and corrective actions.

• Preferred Industry Experience:

  Prior experience within the

  Aerospace & Defence

  ,

  Semiconductor

  , or

  Electrical & Electronics Manufacturing Industry

  is highly desirable.
