Senior VMC Operator

Location

Responsibilities:

• Develop machining processes and programs for the manufacturing of products in multiple-axis machining centres interfacing with tool engineers, manufacturing engineers, development engineers, and quality engineers through the use of CAD CAM Software.
• Analysis’s part drawings, sketches, and design data to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selecting cutting tools, and machine speeds and feeds, according to knowledge of machine shop processes. Perform debugging and testing of VMC programs in the machining centres.
• Develop and maintain VMC programs of multiple-axis machining centres using an advanced three-dimensional programming CAD system.
• Prepares, store and maintain program files in accordance with Zimvie’s manufacturing change control process.
• Writes instructions (Setup) sheets, and tool list to guide set-up and operation of the machining centres.
• Provide input on the purchase of all VMC related machine tools and programming equipment, to include information on controls, and aids in any testing required in the purchase of new VMC equipment.
• Maintain tooling data base.
• Assist in the training of production operators on the use of new VMCmachine control and tools.
• Supports the departmental VMC program change control repository.
• Perform cutting tools evaluations, cost analysis and new technology implementation.
• Maintain status reports on program availability on a timely basis.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Mathematical skills including algebra and trigonometry.
• Make suggestions on drawing changes to improve manufacturability and VMC program strategy.
• Design and machine fixture tooling as needed.
• Assist with operator training.
• Inspect and measure using precision instruments.

Required Skills:

• Must know lathe and mill VMC controls, including multiple-axis machining centers, and be adaptable toward ever-changing technology.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and ISO standards a plus.
• Good oral and written communication in skills in Spanish and English.
• Teamwork and customer focus oriented.
• Experience and knowledge in generating toolpaths through the use of CAD CAM modelling software.
