DevOps Engineer: GCP, Kubernetes and Certificate Management Role Overview We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support the migration of containerised applications and services from an on-premises OpenShift Container Platform environment to bank-managed Kubernetes namespaces on Google Cloud Platform. This is primarily a platform migration, deployment and environment-promotion role rather than an application-development position. The engineer will work with established migration patterns, documentation, platform support teams and existing engineering channels to complete the remaining migrations. Key Responsibilities Migrate containerised Node.js microservices and React UI static servers from on-premises OCP Kubernetes namespaces to GCP Kubernetes namespaces. Review existing deployment configurations and complete migrations that are at different stages of readiness. Deploy and promote application artefacts across INT, PRE and PROD namespaces. Create, update and troubleshoot Kubernetes deployment configurations and Helm charts. Establish and validate ingress, egress and connectivity between containerised applications, sibling services and external systems. Configure and manage application certificates required for secure connectivity. Investigate and resolve deployment, configuration, networking and certificate-related issues. Manage source-code and configuration changes through GitHub. Use CI/CD pipelines to deploy applications and configuration changes into GCP environments. Work with GCP Console, Backstage, GitHub and Harness in accordance with organisational cloud-deployment standards. Validate that migrated artefacts are successfully deployed and stable in the required GCP namespaces. Collaborate with application developers, platform engineers and existing support teams to resolve migration dependencies and technical blockers. Skills and Experience Must-Have Skills Good-to-Have Skills • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes • Experience deploying and supporting workloads on Google Cloud Platform • Experience migrating containerised applications between Kubernetes or OpenShift environments • Understanding of Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Ingress, namespaces and resource configuration • Certificate management experience for secure application connectivity • Experience with Helm charts • Experience with GitHub or enterprise Git-based source control • Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines • Ability to troubleshoot container deployment, connectivity and environment-configuration issues • Ability to follow enterprise platform standards and deployment processes • Experience with OpenShift Container Platform • Working knowledge of TypeScript or Node.js microservices • Familiarity with React static-server deployments • Experience with Harness for CI/CD management • Experience with Backstage for infrastructure or service management • Familiarity with enterprise GCP landing zones and controlled namespace deployments • Understanding of API gateway, ingress and enterprise connectivity patterns • Experience supporting applications that connect to Oracle databases or external APIs Expected Outcomes Assigned containerised artefacts are migrated from OCP to GCP.
