Senior Staff Engineer (Backend):

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design:
Define and evolve the backend architecture to support high-scale, distributed systems. Design robust APIs, services, and data models that serve millions of users efficiently.

Technical Expertise:
Lead cross-team initiatives and ensure alignment with company-wide technical goals. Review and influence system designs across engineering teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

Execution & Delivery:
Drive the end-to-end delivery of large technical projects, ensuring high quality and timely execution. Proactively identify technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and areas of improvement.

Collaboration:
Mentor and guide senior and staff-level engineers through technical challenges and career growth. Foster a culture of engineering excellence, code quality, and operational ownership.

Innovation & Strategy:
Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to continuously improve backend capabilities. Contribute to long-term platform vision and technical roadmap.

Expected:
10+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 3+ years at a senior/staff level. Proven experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture). Deep proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g., Go, Node, Python). Strong expertise in relational and NoSQL databases, caching, and data pipelines. Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker). Experience with CI/CD, observability, and performance optimization. Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical direction across teams.
