Senior Software Development Engineer - WAF & CDN
What You'll Build:
• WAF runtime optimization, reducing CPU consumption and latency at global edge PoPs
• Lua-based WAF rule logic with pattern matching and request inspection
• Threat intelligence integration enhancing detection and response capabilities
• Runtime improvements using caching algorithms for efficient request processing
• Close collaboration with the control plane and SRE teams on unified telemetry and
management
Core Challenges:
• Implementing L7 DDoS mitigation and attack detection at the application layer
• Optimizing request latency in high-throughput edge environments
• Writing performant code where CPU cycles and memory efficiency matter
• Balancing security rule complexity with runtime performance requirements
Required Technical Skills:
• Nginx & Lua: Working knowledge - can write Lua scripts and understand nginx
configuration basics
• Programming Fundamentals: Strong algorithms and data structures foundation
• WAF Basics: Understand what a WAF is and basic HTTP/HTTPS security concepts
• Linux Systems: Comfortable working in Linux environments, basic administration, and
troubleshooting
• Willingness to Learn and Grow: Ready to deepen expertise in nginx, Lua, and edge
computing
• Security Standards: Commitment to CTO and security guidelines
