Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer at Brightly Software, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining advanced GIS-based software applications using Node.js. Your role will involve leading the development of GIS solutions, integrating geospatial data sources into applications, and designing backend solutions for processing large geospatial datasets. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure GIS features meet business requirements and mentor junior engineers to provide technical guidance and best practices. Your key responsibilities will include developing RESTful APIs, optimizing databases for handling geospatial data, monitoring and optimizing GIS systems for performance, and creating technical documentation for geospatial APIs and services. You will stay up to date with emerging technologies in GIS and Node.js development, drive innovation within the team, and support product quality by quickly addressing production defects. To qualify for this role, you should have a Bachelors or masters degree in computer science or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in software development and 2-3 years focused on GIS applications. You should have a strong background in Node.js for backend development, expertise in GIS technologies and spatial data formats, and experience with spatial databases. Additionally, you should possess strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and be a proactive team player who thrives in a collaborative environment. Experience with cloud platforms, deployment tools, agile methodologies, unit testing, and DevOps practices will be advantageous. Knowledge of technologies such as NodeJS/NestJS Framework, messaging frameworks, SQL databases, Dockerization, reactive programming, and version control tools like Git is required for this role.
