Senior Scientist, Decision Sciences

As a Senior Scientist in Decision Sciences at Western Union, based in Pune, India, you will be a pivotal part of the team responsible for managing fraud losses and optimizing revenue opportunities for online transactions. Your role will involve developing and maintaining risk models and rules to safeguard customers and Western Union against fraudulent activities. Your primary responsibilities will include: - Developing real-time and batch risk models to screen online transactions and prevent fraudulent activities - Documenting and communicating model results and insights internally - Continuously evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of risk models and rules - Analyzing online transaction data to identify opportunities for reducing losses and creating actionable plans to capitalize on these opportunities - Profiling customer behavior to enhance the performance of models and rules To be successful in this role, you should possess: - A Master's or Graduate degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Math, Operations Research, MS, M-tech, or B-tech - A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with a proven track record in using advanced quantitative and statistical techniques - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills - Excellent communication skills to convey fraud insights effectively - Proficiency in SQL and at least one of the Python/R programming languages, with a willingness to learn new tools and technologies on the job - Experience in developing predictive models such as logistic regression, decision trees, and machine learning techniques - Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Power BI/PPT and exposure to cloud systems like AWS Sagemaker/Dataiku would be advantageous At Western Union, we are committed to making financial services accessible worldwide and transforming lives and communities.
