What You Will Do
In this position your mission will be to develop innovative solutions for the development and manufacturing of core components of our electrolyzer stack including the membrane-electrode assembly, electrocatalysts, bipolar plates etc. You will also be responsible for putting together the MEA and stack and testing the performance. Your responsibilities include:
- Design and build electrochemical cells and stacks.
- Design and develop, and implement electrolysis cell components: electrocatalysts, diffusion and catalyst layer, membranes and coatings, bipolar plates etc.
- Detailed engineering design and optimization of critical components affecting the electrolysis cell performance and durability.
- Developing new, innovative, and cost-effective solutions for the synthesis of electrocatalysts and electrodes for electrolyzer stacks.
- Designing and developing cost-effective compositions and synthesis techniques for manufacturing of bipolar plates for electrolyzer.
- Selection of sealants and gaskets for high-pressure electrolyzer stack design and manufacturing.
- Good understanding of electrolyzer components manufacturing process (Coating of Electrodes, MEA, CCM, Membrane/Diaphragm).
- Interface with the chemical engineering and process design team for optimizing electrolyzer system performance.
- Work with suppliers to get required materials and parts for the electrolysis cell and stack.
Requirements
Must Have:
- PhD in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Industrial Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- 1-2 years of academic or industrial experience in manufacturing and testing of membrane, electrocatalyst, electrode, bipolar plate and assembly of MEA and stack for testing.
Should Have
- Experience working with wet chemistry and concomitant safety procedures (MSDS)
- An unquenchable thirst for knowledge and the ability to quickly adapt to new situations.
