Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  • Quality Strategy and System Implementation:

Develop and enforce comprehensive quality assurance strategies, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the entire production lifecycle, from raw materials inspection (fabrics, accessories, trims) to finished goods.
  • Process Control and Inspection:

Oversee the implementation of quality control (QC) procedures, including in-line inspections, mid-line audits, and final random inspections (FRIs), ensuring adherence to specified AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) standards (e.g., AQL 2.5/4.0).
  • Pre-Production and Risk Assessment:

Collaborate with design, technical, and merchandising teams to review tech packs, conduct risk analyses, manage sampling and size set approvals, and ensure all buyer specifications and construction details are production-ready before bulk manufacturing begins.
  • Compliance and Buyer Interaction:

Coordinate with buyers and third-party auditors for quality approvals and factory evaluations. Manage all quality documentation, handle buyer quality audits, and ensure timely resolution and implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Team Leadership and Training:

Lead, mentor, and provide ongoing training to a team of QA managers, QC inspectors, and lab technicians on quality standards, defect classification, and reporting protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement:

Analyze quality data and metrics to identify recurring issues and production inefficiencies. Drive root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma methodologies) to minimize defects and reduce waste.
  • Lab and Testing Oversight:

Ensure all fabric and garment testing (e.g., shrinkage, colorfastness, durability) is conducted according to international standards by either managing internal lab operations or coordinating with external certified laboratories

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Design, or a related field is typically required.
  • Experience:

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in quality control/assurance within the apparel or garment industry, with a proven track record in a managerial capacity. Specific experience with intimates or underwear manufacturing is often preferred.
  • Technical Skills:

In-depth knowledge of garment construction, fabric properties, textile testing methods, and quality management systems like ISO 9001 and AQL standards.
  • Soft Skills:

Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities are crucial for coordinating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders (buyers/suppliers).
  • Certifications:

Quality control certifications such as Six Sigma, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, or a Certified Quality Manager (CQM) are often advantageous.
