Senior QA Engineer (Manual & Automation)

**Role Overview:** As a Senior QA Engineer, you will be responsible for owning the quality process for specific product features. Your role will involve transitioning beyond simple execution to test strategy design and automation architecture contribution. You will act as a key liaison between the product, development, and QA teams, utilizing your 4-6 years of experience to enhance quality and efficiency throughout the CI/CD pipeline. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Test Strategy & Manual Mastery** - Take ownership of the testing strategy for complex features and modules, defining scope, objective, and acceptance criteria. - Design, execute, and maintain comprehensive manual test cases focusing on edge cases, usability, and user experience. - Conduct deep Exploratory Testing to identify defects that automated scripts may miss. - Oversee the Defect Lifecycle Management, performing root cause analysis on critical production issues. - **Automation & Technical Proficiency** - Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable automation scripts for Functional, Integration, and Regression testing. - Actively contribute to enhancing and maintaining the existing test automation framework. - Be proficient in API testing to validate backend services and data integrity. - Integrate automated test suites into the CI/CD pipeline to enable frequent and fast releases. - Utilize SQL expertise to perform complex database validation queries. - **Collaboration & Mentorship** - Serve as the quality gatekeeper in Agile/Scrum teams, collaborating closely with Developers and Product Managers. - Provide guidance, technical advice, and code reviews to junior team members. - Track and report on key QA metrics to management and stakeholders. - **Work Sharing** - Initially focus on release activities before transitioning to handling automation and manual testing in parallel. - Ideally work on functional testing for at least 8-12 months after onboarding. **Qualification Required:** - 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in Software Quality Assurance with a strong focus on manual and automation testing. - Strong proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language such as Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript. - Hands-on expertise with UI automation tools like Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, or Playwright. - Proficiency in API Testing, SQL, Git, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and the full STLC. **Additional Details:** A Series A funded California based Software Development Company is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to contribute to their quality process.
