Role Summary:
We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer (68 years) to join our development team and lead quality engineering across a platform built on Java-based microservices, Angular UI, and Backstage (React.js).
The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience in test automation, Karate-based API automation, UI testing, and test reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. API & Microservices Testing
- Design and implement end-to-end test strategies for Java microservices.
- Build and maintain automation suites using Karate framework (existing codebase).
- Validate REST APIs: functional, regression, schema validation, error-handling, contract testing.
- Integrate automated tests with CI pipelines and ensure stable execution.
2. UI Testing – Angular
- Develop automated tests for Angular applications using industry-standard tools (Cypress/Playwright/Selenium).
- Ensure coverage for key UI workflows, validations, accessibility, and permissions.
- Collaborate with developers to define clear acceptance criteria.
3. Backstage (React.js) Testing
- Create automated tests for Backstage portal components and plugins.
- Use frameworks like Jest + React Testing Library for component tests.
- Build E2E automation for Backstage workflows using Playwright/Cypress.
4. Automation & Reporting (Must Have)
- Build robust automated test suites across API, UI, and integration layers.
- Generate detailed test execution reports, dashboards, and quality trend metrics (e.g., using Karate HTML reports, Playwright Reports, Allure, Extent Reports, CI dashboards).
- Drive continuous improvement of test automation coverage and stability.
- Analyze automation results and provide actionable insights for developers and product owners.
5. Quality Governance
- Define and track KPIs: test coverage, defect leakage, flaky test rate, regression stability.
- Introduce best practices for shift-left testing and quality in CI/CD.
- Perform root-cause analysis and prevent defect recurrence.
Must Have:
- 6–8 years of QA experience in product development teams.
- Strong experience testing Java-based microservices.
- Hands-on experience with Karate test automation (API automation).
- Proven expertise in UI automation for Angular.
- Ability to design tests for React.js (Backstage) components and workflows.
- Strong experience in automation scripting, maintaining frameworks, and debugging failures.
- Mandatory: Ability to generate automated test reports, dashboards, summaries, and pipeline reports.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and quality gates.
- Good knowledge of Git, branching, code reviews, and version control practices.
- Excellent working knowledge of Playwright automation for UI and E2E tests.
Good to Have:
- Knowledge of contract testing, mocking, or service virtualization.
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes-based testing environments.
- Experience with performance testing (JMeter/k6) or security testing.
- Exposure to cloud-native ecosystems.
- Experience to contribute in DevOps activities
