Job Description

As an experienced Plastic Mold Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing injection molds for plastic components using CAD/CAM software such as UG NX, Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc. You will optimize mold designs for cost efficiency, cycle time reduction, and longevity, while creating 2D drawings, 3D models, and BOMs. Additionally, you will oversee tool room operations including CNC machining, EDM, grinding, fitting, and assembly, while supervising mold manufacturing, assembly, and testing. Your role will involve handling mold development projects from concept to final production, troubleshooting mold issues, proposing design modifications, and implementing corrective actions. You will also be responsible for guiding and training junior toolmakers, machinists, and designers, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities: - Design new injection molds for plastic components using CAD/CAM software (UG NX, Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.). - Optimize mold designs for cost efficiency, cycle time reduction, and longevity. - Create 2D drawings, 3D models, and BOMs. - Oversee tool room operations including CNC machining, EDM, grinding, fitting, and assembly. - Supervise mold manufacturing, assembly, and testing. - Handle mold development projects from concept to final production. - Coordinate with production, QC, and design teams to ensure smooth execution. - Troubleshoot mold issues, propose design modifications, and implement corrective actions. - Guide and train junior toolmakers, machinists, and designers. - Ensure adherence to quality standards, timelines, and safety protocols. Qualifications Required: - Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Tool & Die/Production Engineering. - Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in plastic injection mold design and manufacturing. - Strong practical knowledge of tool room machines, processes, and mold assembly. - Proficiency in CAD/CAM design software (UG NX preferred). - Knowledge of mold flow analysis is an added advantage. - Ability to work independently and manage the tool room as a whole. - Strong problem-solving, planning, and leadership skills. In addition to the above responsibilities and qualifications, you will have the opportunity to lead tool room operations in a growing manufacturing company. You will also gain exposure to in-house mold making and plastic injection molding facilities.
